Rouge Homme

After 60 years, the iconic Rouge Homme wine brand returns to the Redman family, having been purchased back from Treasury Wine Estates. It’s a wonderful moment for the Redman family and a chance to remember how timeless Coonawarra wines can be.
First bottled in 1952, the Rouge Homme label grew an Australian and international following for its distinctive Coonawarra wines, including a Cabernet Sauvignon/Shiraz blend and clarets. In 1965, the winery, label and vineyard acreage were purchased by Lindeman’s, which continued to market and sell wine under the Rouge Homme brand.
Following the sale of the Rouge Homme brand, Redman Wines was launched in 1966.
Redman Wines co-owner and fourth-generation winemaker Dan Redman said he was delighted to have the label back in the family’s brand portfolio:
“Rouge Homme has a special place in the heart of Coonawarra. Welcoming it back in the 60th year of Redman is especially meaningful – a full-circle moment. We’re often asked about the connection of Rouge Homme with Redman, with many wine drinkers enjoying the wines that were made in the 50s and early 60s. The label is synonymous with the Redman family and we look forward to taking the brand forward in the future.”

Rouge Homme Returns
The Redman family announce the purchase of the Rouge Homme brand, returning it to family ownership after 60 years. A small but intimate gathering was held at Wynns in Coonawarra to celebrate the importance of the brand, reflecting upon the past, whilst sharing the vision for the future.
